What Is a Head Injury?
A head injury occurs when external force damages the scalp, skull, or brain. Injuries range from mild concussion to severe traumatic brain injury (TBI) with bleeding, swelling, or skull fractures. Symptoms of Head Injury
Mild head injury symptoms:
Loss of consciousness for a few seconds to minutes, headache, dizziness, nausea or vomiting, memory problems, confusion, difficulty concentrating, blurred vision, ringing in the ears, sensitivity to light or sound, fatigue or drowsiness, mood changes, and difficulty sleeping.
Moderate to severe head injury symptoms:
Loss of consciousness from several minutes to hours, persistent or worsening headache, repeated vomiting or nausea, convulsions or seizures, dilation of pupils, clear fluids draining from nose or ears, weakness or numbness in limbs, loss of coordination, profound confusion, agitation, slurred speech, and coma.

Diagnosis

CT scan is the gold standard for acute head injury, detecting bleeding, swelling, skull fractures, and hematomas.
